FAQ

I am under 18. Can I take part in a test?

Most of our studies are for people aged 18 and over - however we do sometimes run studies for under 18s. Please register so we can contact you next time we have a study you could take part in!

I am employed, unemployed, a full-time parent. Can I take part in a test?

YES. Men, women, people in full or part-time work, students, unemployed people, pensioners, full time mums… Everyone can take part in the tests.

It is your responsibility to inform the tax or benefit office about the money you receive from taking part in studies, it may have an impact on any benefits you receive.

I work full time. Can I come in on my lunch break, before or after work?

Many of our volunteers need to come in to fit around other commitments, work, family and so on. We will always do our best to find an appointment that works for you!

On many studies we offer appointments before 9, after 5 or during lunch.

Will I get paid for taking part?

You will receive a payment for taking part to compensate you for your time, travel expenses, any inconvenience caused and any risks involved.

Study payments vary depending on the length of the study, number of visits and the inconvenience of taking part.

Payments can vary from around £20 to £30 to several hundred pounds.

Are my details secure?

We do not share the information we hold about you on our recruitment database with any other companies at all.

The information we keep is kept locked away on a secure database.

How will you contact me about studies?

We use the following methods to contact our volunteers:

  • Texts to your mobile phone
  • Emails
  • Phone calls
  • Letters

You can also check this website to find out about the studies we have running and any other information you need.

Can I bring my children with me?

We understand you may not be able to get child care so whenever possible you can bring the children - please do be aware that you may not be able to bring children for some studies and check before you arrive.

We would though have to ask that they don't interfere with the running of the study and that children under 16 are accompanied at all times.

Are the products safe?

The tests we run use products and ingredients that have been approved and certified as safe for use by an independent company.

One of the reasons we run tests is to make sure that the products are as safe as they should be, so if a moisturising cream should give you a bit of a rash trained medical staff are always on hand to deal with the problem.

Payment aside, what benefit is there to me from taking part in a study?

You will be helping test cutting edge products so that they can be developed and put on sale.

You may be the first person you know to test a brand new moisturiser or whitening toothpaste which could be much better than those which are already on sale!
